Retail: In a Store or Restaurant Near You

Partnerships with Retailers

Throughout the fall, Wegmans and Tops promoted, “Make tailgating 3 times healthier by making it 3 ways cooler”.  The promotion highlighted various cheese recipes that help make one’s tailgating fun and healthy. To help drive consumers to their local retailer, coupons for cheese and flavored milk are also featured. The ad also offered a chance for a lucky consumer to win a trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

A&P, Waldbaums, Superfresh, and Farmer Jack also featured 3-A-Day™ of Dairy messaging in their “Easy Solutions” brochure. The booklet will be available in over 400 stores throughout June Dairy Month.

Retail Dairy Marketing and Merchandising Program

ADADC’s Retail Dairy Marketing and Merchandising Program (RDMMP) works to ensure that the coldest, freshest milk and dairy products— in the appropriate sizes, varieties, and flavors—are available in the customer’s favorite supermarket, convenient store or drug store.  The RDMMP does this by examining and analyzing stock conditions, plan-o-gram, product rotation, ordering procedures, and store hygiene in order to increase the quality, look of the dairy case, and in-return sales of dairy products. Through partnerships with local processors, over 40% of the audits done in 2007 were done by processors.

¨ Over 23,000 dairy case audits were done in 2007.

¨ Over 40% of these audits were done by local processors partnering in the RDMMP.

Milk Goes Fast Food

Subway® Restaurants is one of the latest to join Burger King, Sonic Drive-In, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and others by offering milk in plastic bottles in nearly 60,000 restaurants nationwide.

16-ounce low-fat white and reduced-fat chocolate milk in plastic, single-serve bottles on its menu. They are also offering a 4-ounce yogurt to their customers.

This partnership brings the total number of restaurants offering milk in plastic bottles to more than 60,000 nationwide.

Wendy’s

During 2007, cheesy new sandwiches were rolled out in all Wendy’s locations across the country. These new items features Pepper Jack cheese that help to “spice” up the menu.

More Cheese on Pizza

Developing innovative new products is key to driving growth of cheese sales in the pizza category. That’s why dairy producers, through their checkoff investment, partnered with Domino’s Pizza® – the nation’s No. 2 pizza chain – to introduce the new

Cheesy Garlic Bread Pizza and “Crispy Melt” pizza. The pizzas offered a garlic bread flavor with layers of cheese, including Provolone and Cheddar, on a buttery hand-tossed crust.
