In 2009, Congress will have the opportunity to renew the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act 2004 . Set to expire on September 30, 2009, this legislation allocates funds for federal children programs, including National Breakfast and Lunch Programs to include Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Together, these programs provide nutritional assistance to more than 53 million American adults and children, offering particular advantages for low-income Americans.
